NZ Test & Tag Laws & Regulations
In New Zealand, all electrical equipment used in workplaces must comply with the Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010 and the AS/NZS 3760:2022 standard for In service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment. These regulations require that employers, PCBU’s (Persons Conducting a Business or Undertaking), and site managers ensure that all portable electrical tools and appliances are regularly inspected, tested, and tagged to verify they are safe to use.
The frequency of testing depends on the type of environment and level of electrical risk.
